Our Focus

Our priority is to contribute to addressing the pressing global issues of poverty, human trafficking, forced migration, refugees, gender inequality, violence towards women and children, and religious intolerance.

Our Values

Our values underpin our work

  • Transparency and Accountability
  • Trust & Respect
  • Partership & Collaboration
  • Excellence
  • Justice

Our Approach

Good Shepherd Ireland puts its efforts into both direct services and advocacy work. The challenge is to be committed to working with each individual, while also working to transform unjust structures.

We take a holistic approach to all our work, taking into account the social, economic, emotional and spiritual well-being of those we work with.

We act to ensure quality sustainable programmes for vulnerable people, particularly girls, women and children, both in Ireland and internationally through:

  • Best practice programming, monitoring and evaluation
  • Effective communication
  • Research and advocacy
  • Sustainable funding

Our Story

Established in 2017, Good Shepherd Ireland co-ordinates the community development work of the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd Irish Province. The province is part of an International Organisation present in 72 countries of the world.

An International Voice

Good Shepherd became affiliated with the United Nations as an NGO with consultative status with ECOSOC in November 1996. This allows us to influence the international policy agenda and seek to change structures and systems which condemn many of the worlds people to lives mired by poverty, violence and discrimination.
